Learning to create and achieve

In collaboration with the teaching team, Mrs. Carmen Maalouf planned projects, for the 3rd and 4th cycles for the 2018 Science Fair, that were aimed at the “wonderful world of chemistry” by encouraging the students to provide tools and methods of research and to practice the scientific and technological processes.

Indeed, grade 4 and 5 students had to exploit the properties of certain materials and their chemical reactions with others such as oil with water and soap, fizzy drink with milk, vitamin C and iodine with lemon juice, iodine and starch, aluminum and hydrogen, yeast and sugar, hydrogen peroxide and blood, acetone which dilutes glues, soap and milk, oil and vinegar, eggshell and vinegar.

For their part, the 6th graders, focused on procedures to “treat wastewater” with a view to depollution, to reduce their impact on the environment and to recycle, without forgetting the problems encountered during the treatment. The 7th graders had to share the question of the distillation of crude oil as well as that of the benefits of refining and the use of extracted products. The projects, clearly titled and documented, were harmoniously projected on the interactive screen which made it possible to distinguish a brief description which traced the steps of the appropriate scientific process.

Congratulations to the dear parents and students of cycles 3 and 4 for the effectiveness with which the researches were carried out! Thank you to the members of the teaching team, especially Mrs. Carmen and Mrs. Mireille for their professionalism, and Mrs. Liseby for her support!
