Event details

Works of Art that Make Emotions Dream

What were the educational resources related to the arts and culture for cycle 4 students?

A Canadian painter, Norval Morrisseau was the choice of the 6th graders who have discovered the originality of this painter known as “Picasso of the North” and whose works represent the legends and spiritualities of his people. Mrs. Rana Chamoun advised the discovery of the style of this painter, called medicine painting or “radiographic style”, where the painter represents the interior of animals and humans, as seen on X-rays. In addition, Norval Morrisseau depicted the aspect of the characters and the animals seen in profile in his works such as “Thunderbird”.

Contemporary African art, which generally designates works of art created since the second half of the 20th century, was the choice of 7th and 8th graders. The students have discovered movements, genres, and trends with unique characteristics that, having emerged in Africa, had a global impact. They have also learned the creation of modern works by African painters who studied in Europe and the United States, as well as the development of oil painting techniques different from Western works.

Many thanks Mrs. Rana Chamoun, the art teacher, for this variety of cultural and artistic activities that promotes the development of students’ thinking and imagination and that is a source of psychological equilibrium and self-confidence.
